All colour images are also available as black & white prints. The b&w previews offered here are produced by simply desaturating the image via Javascript. The result is a neutral b&w preview which may appear flat or too dark/bright. Before printing, however, each image is individually assessed and adjusted for best contrast, tonal quality, and dynamic range.
Mývatn
With images of the volcanic lake Mývatn (engl: `lake of midges´) which forms the northern extension of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, separating the Eurasian from the North-American plate. Due to its large population of midges in summer, the lake is a gathering ground for about a dozen of European and arctic duck species. The gallery also shows images of the surrounding volcanoes and nearby vents and fumaroles at Hverarönd as well as the geothermal bath Jarðböð. Other images from Iceland can be found in these albums:
