black & white previews
All colour images are also available as black & white prints. The b&w previews offered here are produced by simply desaturating the image via Javascript. The result is a neutral b&w preview which may appear flat or too dark/bright. Before printing, however, each image is individually assessed and adjusted for best contrast, tonal quality, and dynamic range.

Danza de los voladores in Mexico City
Danza de los voladores in Mexico City
The Danza de los Voladores (Dance of the Flyers) is a traditional Mesoamerican ceremony/ritua. Usually 5 dancers take part. They climb a tall pole from which 4 gradually start to descend by suspending themselves on ropes which slowly unwind, lowering them to the ground. The fifth dancer remains at the top where he plays musica and dances. In an attempt to help the ritual survive in the modern world, the UNESCO named it an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
