The Monumento Ernesto Che Guevara in Santa Clara
The Monumento Ernesto Che Guevara in Santa Clara
During the Cuban revolution against the Batista regime, Santa Clara was taken on 29 December 1958 by a group led by Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara. Despite US support and large superiority in numbers, the Batista army lost Santa Clara marking a turning point in the liberation of Cuba and paving the way for the revolutionaries to move towards the capital Havana.
